The Lady Braves found themselves down 3-1 in the second half, with two of Mynderse’s goals being scored by Allie Deal, but the Lady Braves battled back to even the score at 3, with two goals from Abigail Keenan, who scored their earlier goal. This would be the last goal for the Lady Braves, though, as Mynderse added a goal a piece in the two overtime periods to take the victory.
Avon’s head coach Jill Terry said she was impressed with her team’s effort today and throughout the season.
“I think they worked their tails off,” Terry said. “They played to the last minute and I think that’s important, whether the outcome is the way they wanted it to be, or not, they worked hard this season and I think it all comes to show just making it this far.”
Terry said she feels the team has grown throughout this year’s campaign.
“Being a part of this, and being a part of this team, and the change that has come over the last few years is just something to be proud of and an honor to be a part of,” she said.
“I’m not the one out on the field with them, and they take the things they’ve learned and they really put them wholeheartedly out there and the thing I would say is ‘leave it on the field’ and I think they definitely left it on the field today.”
