AVON — The Avon Lady Braves suffered a loss to the Perry Yellow Jackets, 49-40, Friday night at home.
The Braves fought a hard battle up until the fourth quarter, when the Yellow Jackets caught fire from three-point territory and took an 11 point lead. The deficit was too great to overcome with little time remaining in the game.
“They put that one run on,” head coach Peter Leone said. “That was the difference, but I was pleased with our overall effort.”
Junior Jill McEvoy led the Lady Braves with 13 points and sophomore Kali Mouw finished with 10. The Lady Braves are one of the youngest teams in the county, starting all juniors.
“Each tough game we play is making us better and better being such a young team,” Leone said. “Our main focus is to get into a better offensive rhythm early.”
The Lady Braves (1-3) take on an experienced Caledonia-Mumford (1-2) rival this Tuesday at 7pm.
