Emily Podhorecki, a Senior at Geneseo Central School is recording the fastest times in the Southern Tier Race League for the Blue Devils.
“I love racing because of the thrill factor and I love how every race is a risk I’m willing to take,” said Podhorecki. “My goal this season is to not only push others but to push myself and to make it to states.”
Unique from other sports there is no school classification system it’s fastest down the run from all schools, and for Podhorecki she’s at the top.
“Emily is dedicated and hard working,” said Renee Sylor, Geneseo Ski Coach. “She is a supportive teammate. She motivates others to work hard and do their best by setting her expectations high and never give up.”
Podhorecki, who races for Geneseo and trains with Livonia, won the southern tier league last year and competed in the state finals at Whiteface Mountain. In her last race, her two combined times were 4 seconds faster then the second place skier, Garrett Stuckey.
