The New York State Department of Transportation today announced the intersection of Route 63 and Court Street in Geneseo, Livingston County, will close to all traffic beginning Thursday, August 13, 2020, as part of a previously announced capital project to replace the existing truss along Route 63 over the Genesee River and install a modern concrete roundabout designed to reduce congestion and enhance safety.
On August 13, Route 63 will close to all traffic for approximately eight days to incorporate the new bridge, which was built parallel to the existing bridge, into the roadway. A detour will be in place along Route 63 through August 21 directing traffic on Route 63 to use Route 36 and Route 39 (U.S. Route 20A). Access for emergency vehicles will be accommodated during this time.
During this time, Court Street at the Route 63 intersection will also close to traffic for approximately one month in order to complete the construction and tie-in of the new roundabout. A detour will be in place to use Route 39 (Main Street) in Geneseo to Route 63.
All construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
