GENESEO – A new Relay for Life event is coming to Geneseo, springboarding off of the success of Relay for Life in Dansville.
Hundreds are expected to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Livingston County in Geneseo on Saturday, June 11 at Geneseo High School, 4050 Geneseo Road, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Before that, Relay for Life in Dansville will be June 4 at 1 p.m. at Ralph Clements Athletic Field on Clara Barton Street.
“I was approached by volunteers and team captains who wanted to give it a try,” said Community Manager Mackenzie Howe. “This will be a wonderful complement to Relay for Life in Dansville.”
Both events will have teams and individuals camping out and taking turns walking or running around the track or path. Individuals and teams raise funds and awareness to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer.
Representatives from U of R Noyes Memorial Hospital’s Myers Cancer Center will be present at these events to spread awareness of what they will be able to do for Livingston County.
Relay For Life is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community, with 4 million participants in 6,000 events worldwide in 2015.
The movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all.
Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society save lives by funding groundbreaking cancer research, providing free information and critical services for people with cancer, and supporting education and prevention programs.
