GENESEO – The Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena is officially in the top four for the $150,000 grand prize from Kraft Hockeyville 2017.
NBC announced the top four at 3 p.m. Saturday. This is big news for fans of the ‘Ira,’ which is the only full-size public ice rink for many Livingston County residents.

“Thank you voting warriors! We made it!!!! We are in the top four!” posted fan Brian Lawrence. “New round of voting starts at 12 am on the 18th.
Need all voting warriors to vote both days, the 18th and 19th.”

According to the official rules, there will be three voting phases, from April 11 to April 13, from April 18 to April 19, and from April 24 to April 25. During each voting period, voters can vote 50 times per day by visiting the Website and follow the links and instructions to vote, and 50 more times per day by using a two-way text-messaging capable device and text the applicable Finalist Submission’s keyword (found on the Contest Website) to 35350.
Voters can also vote once per day by visiting the Website and follow the links and instructions to click on the tweet button to vote via Twitter. To vote via Twitter, you must be a registered Twitter account user and must be in compliance with Twitter platform rules.
The Grand Prize is Grand Prize package includes $150,000 in arena upgrades for the winning rink, the opportunity to host the game that will be played in that arena (or an alternative arena if necessary), and the ‘Kraft HockeyvilleTM USA 2017’ title and trophy. The Grand Prize winning Rink will have the opportunity to be featured on a NBC television broadcast related to the NHL® Pre-Season Game in the fall of 2017. KraftHockeyville.com says that the game date is to be determined by the sponsor in its sole discretion and ‘the sponsor, NHLPA and the NHL reserve the right to cancel or postpone the game and/or the television broadcast in their sole discretion.’
There are pretty great prizes for arena upgrades open to runners-up too.
The top runner-up gets $75,000 in arena upgrades, two runners-up get $25,000 each in arena upgrades and six runners-up below that get $10,000 in arena upgrades.
