The Big Tree Inn of Geneseo has suspended restaurant and tavern service through the end of the year, due to loss of business from Covid concerns. The hotel portion of the building will continue in business, and reservations already made will be honored. Special events may still be scheduled.
The restaurant opened for business for walk-in dine-in business for a short time this past summer, but there was not enough business to support staying open. It was thought the restaurant might reopen when the college opened in the fall, but that will not be the case, according to Mat Felthousen, interim executive director of SUNY Geneseo’s Campus Auxiliary Services, which operates the Big Tree Inn. Felthousen noted that he hoped to reopen the restaurant portion of the business again when “times were better.” The updated announcement of the restaurant closing is on the Big Tree Inn’s web page at https://bigtreeinn.com
The historic Main Street Inn, built in 1833, has been in business since 1886 as a hotel, event center, and restaurant.
