Geneseo Woman Takes Heat for Opening RG&E Account with Daughter’s SSN

GENESEO – The Geneseo Police Department arrested a village resident for allegedly using her daughter’s social security number to open an RG&E account.

According to a press release from Geneseo Police Chef Eric Osganian, Peggy Merrill, 34, was arrested for felony Identity Theft in the Second Degree, misdemeanor Identity Theft in the Third Degree, felony Forgery in the Second Degree, misdemeanor Forgery in the Third Degree, and misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of Personal Information.

Police allege that Merrill used her daughter’s social security number to open an account at RG&E, which totaled over $500 in charges.

Merrill was arraigned in front of Geneseo Justice Thomas Bushnell and released to appear in Geneseo Village Court at a later date.
