GENESEO – Village Trustee Matt Cook walked across the stage on Saturday to the cheers of over 1,000 fellow graduates and his family members.
A native of Rochester, Cook re-iterated his plans to live in the Village and continue service as a Trustee while attending grad school at SUNY Brockport’s satellite campus in Rochester.
“I’m excited to get going,” said Cook. “I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the Village and doing the best we can do.”
Cook plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
“I will be renting an apartment in the Village and traveling 30 or 40 minutes to grad school,” said Cook. “Very doable.”
He is the second youngest Geneseo Village Trustee in history, second to Mary Rutigliano, who is also a SUNY Geneseo student. Rutigliano is a Geneseo native and promised on her campaign trail to continue to live in the Village throughout her term.
The two famously won Trustee positions in a five-way race in March 2016 by garnering a record-shattering number of absentee ballots.
