GENESEO — The Geneseo Village Board has decided to cease the enforcement of parking meters during the summer months.
The start date of the non-enforcement period is yet to be determined, and the enforcement will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
The decision was made on the recommendation of the Parking committee who, along with the village board, will be monitoring the effectiveness of eliminating parking meter enforcement.
“The Primary purpose of a traffic enforcement officer is to move traffic along,” said Mayor Margaret Duff, “In the summer there are not cars to move along.”
Once the non-enforcement period begins, the parking meters will be covered in order to avoid confusion.
