GENESEO – The Village’s newest model of parking meters have buttons that indicate which parking spot the deposited quarter are intended.
The black meters started going in in 2016 to replace double-headed gray meters that stand between parking spots, but some drivers do not yet know how to use them.
The Village plans to replace all of Center Street’s meters with these black meters before Christmas. They plan to replace more meters on Main Street through the coming months.
When the new black meters are expired, an ‘E’ appears on the display.
The Village has one of the black meters in their office at 119 Main Street to show drivers how they operate.
All of Geneseo’s meters still cost 25 cents per hour of parking.
