Geneseo Says Fond Farewell to ‘Chris’ at 68

GENESEO – The following is an obituary posted by Rector Hicks Funeral Home for Walter Christian Hoerger, Jr., known on Main Street as ‘Chris’:

Walter Christian ‘Chris’ Hoerger, Jr., age 68, died Dec. 11 at his residence in Geneseo. He was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Walter Hoerger and his brother-in-law, James J. Corcoran.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Corcoran of Geneseo, his niece, Cathy (Steve) Raynor of SC, nephew, Jim (Rebecah) Corcoran of Avon, his great nephew, Ryan Corcoran, great nieces, Kendall Corcoran and Danielle Raynor and his ARC family of 41 Second Street in Geneseo.

Chris grew-up in the Cortland & Groton, NY communities, but went on to work and retire in Geneseo. Chris was known around the village for his daily walks and friendly nature. Chris’s family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the Livingston-Wyoming ARC past & present staff and to the Geneseo community businesses, churches and officials for their support & friendship in Chris’s life.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main Street in Geneseo where his Memorial Service will follow visitation at 4 p.m. with Dr. Rev. Nancy Lowmaster officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cortland, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Livingston-Wyoming ARC, 18 Main St., Mt. Morris, NY 14510 or lwarc.org.
