GENESEO — The Geneseo Police Department has a Child Safety Seat Program and one woman stated her appreciation on Facebook after a weather related accident.
“I flipped my car while driving home with my children. Thank you Jeffrey Szszeskiak for teaching me and my husband how to properly install our carseats and the children into carseats. Thank you Subaru for keeping me and my children Safe!” stated Melanie Knapp Braun on her Facebook wall.
According to Geneseo Police Chief, Eric Osganian, the Department has two the Village Police Department has two New York State certified safety seat installers (Officer Jeffery Szczesniak and Daniel Piedmonte). It is a four day class to become certified and the officers have to re-certify every two years, per state guidelines.
“It really shows the reason why we have a Child Safety Seat Program and the importance of having children properly restrained in the vehicle.” stated Chief Osganian in an email.
The Police department offers safety seat checkpoints four times a year and by appointment as well. Those who would like to make an appointment should call 243-2420.
