GENESEO – Friday dawned on a silent tribute to the sorely missed Emmeline, the bronze bear who is still resting safely at the Livingston County Museum after the fabled truck accident in April.
Though it was up for less than an hour after 7 a.m., a giant stuffed teddy bear sat on the metal pole, about where Emmeline would sit if she were still on her granite pedestal.
Moorland Studios, the Village of Geneseo, and the Association for the Preservation of Geneseo (APOG) are working together to rebuild the fountain.
Certain components, like the pedestal and flower basket hooks, are salvageable. Mayor Richard Hatheway reports that the base is too damaged to hold water and will have to be rebuilt.
