GENESEO — Members of the community joined the Geneseo Kiwanis Club in the Village Park for a dedication ceremony in honor of Peter Bondi.
The Geneseo Kiwanis Club dedicated a bench and Red Maple tree as an everlasting memorial for the former Deputy Mayor, Village Trustee, Kiwanis Club President. and business leader to Bondi who passed away earlier this year.
“He loved Geneseo and appreciated the community,” said Scott Bondi, his son. “He enjoyed giving back to the community and had a passion for Geneseo and the people lived here.”
Bondi was a proud Army veteran and received the Hixson Award, the highest honor for a Kiwanis member.
“Our Kiwanis Club wanted to honor Peter for all he did and for the great love all of us have for him,” said Jerry Wrubel, Kiwanus member. “We hope these sights will serve as a permanent source of happiness to the community just as Peter Bondi was to Geneseo his entire life.”
“My dad’s the best,” said Valerie Hendrick, his teary eyed daughter. “He loved everyone and just wanted the best for Geneseo.”
