GENESEO— Geneseo held their 150th Memorial Day parade and service on Monday.
The parade, which included Veterans, village fire and EMT crews, and the Geneseo Central high school and middle school marching bands, began at the village park and marched down Main street to the Civil War memorial, where a wreath was placed and blessed by pastor Ron Palmer. The parade then returned to the park, where Col. Gary Anderson addressed those in attendance.
“For a lot of people, perhaps too many in this country, Memorial Day is just another three day weekend,” said Anderson. “But the people who have come here today, have come to honor the real reason we have Memorial Day, which is the people on [the Honor Roll] memorial.”
