The Geneseo Lady Devils lost a hard fought soccer game last night to Wheatland-Chili. The game was played at Geneseo and the Blue Devils went toe-to-toe with the Lady Wildcats. The goalies did a great job in the first half keeping the game scoreless. In the second half, the Wildcats managed to outscore the Blue Devils 3 – 2.
Scoring for the Geneseo team was Brenna Henderson and Morgan Walton with an assist from Bridget McMaster. Faith Hainsworth stayed in goal and had 5 saves throughout the game.
Geneseo’s Coach, Nick Drollette, said, “This team certainly has nothing to hang their heads about. They went toe to toe with one of the best teams in New York State and showed why they have 16 wins. We executed our game plan well and were able to take the lead through our counter but it just wasn’t enough tonight. Wheatland is very well coached and they have a lot of talent. The way our team worked all year long has made me very proud.” “This group of seniors really left their mark on this program and their leadership was exemplary. As a whole this team fully bought in to our system of play and from1 to 23 they each brought something special and important to practice and to games each and every day.”
