Today marked the opening day of the 2nd annual Geneseo Farmers Market, which runs every Thursday from 3-6 p.m. until October. This year’s market features 12-15 venders selling produce, baked goods, cheese, honey and more.
“It’s going pretty well,” said the market’s manager Cate Concannon. “We had a great turnout and we were able to promote well through Facebook and signs. Local businesses have also started to jump on board with market-day discounts. We want to encourage that more.”
Main Street shops like the Frugal Fashionista consignment shop offered special discounts for the opening day of the market. Concannon said several local businesses donated raffle items to the market, which will be raffled off throughout the season.
In addition to gaining more local awareness and support, the market also gained a new assistant manager. SUNY Geneseo student Melissa Graham took on the role.
