GENESEO – The Geneseo Central school will hold a Budget Forum this Saturday , which will include a presentation on the current financial condition of the District along with an up-to-date draft of the 2015-2016 district budget, with the opportunity for attendees to provide input regarding school programs and budget priorities.
According to a press release from Geneseo Central superintendent Tim Hayes, this year is particularly tough because funding that in past years has come from the state level is now beginning to decrease.
“This is a particularly difficult budget year,” said superintendent Hayes. “The Governor has withheld aid runs from districts so there has been no indication from New York State regarding the money that will be provided to schools for operational costs. Most schools in the area depend on the state for between thirty-five and eighty-five percent of their revenue.”
The Forum is open to all school community members and will run from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on March 21 at the Thomas W. Preston Media Center in the Middle and High School, with coffee and snacks available.
Anyone who is unable to attend can still access the forum presentation on the District website under the District menu.
