Facebook users are all abuzz about the price decreases in Wayland, which are running about 60 cents cheaper in Wayland than in Livonia, Geneseo, Hornell, and other local towns., where prices generally range from about $3.89-$3.99 a gallon.
On Saturday, Sept. 24, the price was $3.25 a gallon at the convenience store across from the Wayland Central School, the 7-11 on Rt. 15, and at the Wayland Shurfine, where, on last Thursday the Shurfine had an additional 5 cents per gallon discount, a discount only available on Thursdays.
“If you live close enough to Wayland, it’s worth the trip,” commented one customer. If you have a 20 gallon tank, that’s about $12 difference, whether I head south to Wayland, or get it at the first place north as I drive into (Rochester) where the gas is about $3.89 too, ”said one Canadice resident. I’m going to the Naples Grape Festival by way of Wayland…..”
How long the prices will stay that low is unknown, since gas prices everywhere are expected to rise, as Saudi Arabia has raised their price of oil in the last week.
But for now, residents are enjoying it, and the businesses reporting increased traffic are, too.
