MOUNT MORRIS – A Geneseo man was arrested on several charges related to welfare fraud, including Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, and Misuse of Food Stamps.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty’s Office, Anthony Lockwood, 25, was arrested following an investigation into welfare benefits he was receiving.
It is alleged that Lockwood applied for assistance through the Livingston County Department of Social Services (DSS) and claimed that he had no income when he actually had been working full time hours and was still obtaining assistance through DSS. Total overpayment of services were estimated to be $2,162.56.
Lockwood will answer the Felony charges in Mount Morris Town Court at a later date.
The arrest and investigation were handled by Investigator Dan Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Livingston County Department of Social Services.
