As February comes to a close, the GeneseeSun.com quietly celebrates five years. It’s been an amazing process as we continue to learn and evolve. The next evolution of the Sun is already in the works. You will see some spectacular upgrades over the summer.
Over the last five years, we have had over 1 million viewers and broken the big stories first. We are never to be intimidated or afraid to roll up our sleeves.
We have live-streamed high school sports, hosted debates for political candidates, and broadcasted live from accident scenes. No argument can be made that Livingston County has ever seen coverage like this from anyone else.
A few years ago, Conrad Baker interned for the GeneseeSun.com. He is now co-owner and Editor in Chief. I have been away at a military school since December and I couldn’t be more proud and grateful for the work and dedication he has shown.
The news business is vicious and many times cutthroat. People are treated like garbage. I promised myself that all those who work for or with us, whether an intern, freelancer or partner would be treated with the respect and professionalism with which my family raised me to treat others. Maybe as a result, the Sun not only has Conrad as co-owner but numerous former interns who have gone on to work for local TV stations and newspapers. It’s been a gift to see the Sun’s former interns springboard from our newsroom to realize their dreams in journalism.
