FROM THE PUBLISHER’S DESK: Media Endorsements Center Ring of the Circus

Once again we now enter the crazy announcements of media outlets stating their endorsement of one politician or another. The GeneseeSun.com doesn’t endorse. We never have and never will. Instead of telling you what to do – we work hard to inform the voter so that they may make the best decisions based upon their individual values when it comes time to vote. This philosophy at the Sun has been one of our platforms from the start – be fair to all candidates regardless of party affiliation.

Now, some media outlets will endorse on some races and pass on others. They strap on the flip-flops and then pull the carpet out from a candidate. That’s not how I was raised and that’s not what we do. We love elections, we love the voter, and we firmly believe in our system of governance.

For Livingston County, 99.9% of our local candidates have the best intentions for our community and that is a reflection of who we are. They are not as slick and polished as those on the national stage, but honestly that really isn’t our style and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. As most of those know that are elected, the GeneseeSun.com, as the fourth estate, holds you accountable for the decisions you make and the actions you take.

So to those Livingston County politicians past, present and future: thank you. Thank you for aspiring to serve and having the courage to run for office.  We encourage political action, we encourage candidates to seek political office and we support those who have the courage to run. If you do run for us, please remember that our community is counting on you.
