“Due to the developing freezing rain and anticipated deteriorating conditions throughout this afternoon and evening, the campus is closed,” posted Livonia Central Schools to Facebook.
A winter weather advisory is currently in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday. A wind advisory is in effect until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
“A winter weather advisory is normally issued for a variety of winter weather conditions such as light snow, blowing snow, sleet, freezing rain and wind chills,” said the National Weather Service. “While the weather will be significant, the word advisory implies that severe winter weather is not anticipated.”
Snow accumulation of an inch or less and ice accumulation of a few hundredths of an inch are expected. While not large amounts, road conditions are expected to significantly deteriorate.
“Impacts include slippery conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks that will result in hazardous travel,” said the National Weather Service.
