LIVINGSTON COUNTY — New York State law states that all dogs be vaccinated for rabies by four months of age, and that all cats and ferrets four months of age or older must be vaccinated for rabies.
Free anti-rabies vaccines for these pets are being offered across Livingston County in the month of June at various locations. This service is strictly for Livingston County residents.
All animals must be accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older. All dogs must be leashed and all cats and ferrets must be in carriers.
Please bring proof of immunizations for cats and dogs previously immunized against rabies. If no proof is presented, a one-year certificate will be issued. A three-year certificate will be issued if proof is shown.
Vaccines will be given between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the following locations and dates:
June 5 at the Avon Fire Hall in the Avon circle
June 7 at the Livonia Town Barns at 50 Commercial Street
June 13 at the Nunda Town Barns at S Church Street
June 14 at the Groveland Town Barns at 4995 Aten Road
June 19 at the County Complex at Hamptons Corners at 4389 Gypsy Lane
June 20 at the Dansville Village Barns at 10 Mill Street
June 26 at the Caledonia Highway Town Barns at Middle Road
Since the service is free, but costly to provide, donations are accepted. For more information, call the Livingston County Health Department at 243-7280.
