GENESEO — The Geneseo Elizabeth Wende Breast Care site, the Cancer Services Program of Livingston and Wyoming County, and the Livingston County Department of Health, are collaborating to offer a free breast cancer screening day for uninsured women.
The Cancer Services Program is a state wide program with the goal of educating the public on the importance of cancer screening. The Cancer Services Program has funding to cover the cost of breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening for people without health insurance. On Saturday, September 22, 2012 we will offer a breast cancer screening day at the new Elizabeth Wende Breast Care site in Geneseo for uninsured women. A nurse practitioner will be available to do a clinical breast exam and Elizabeth Wende Breast Care will do the mammography. Results of the mammography will be available the same day.
This will be the first ever Saturday screening event held by the Cancer Services Program of Livingston and Wyoming Counties.
Cancer screenings save lives and it is important that all age appropriate individuals be screened for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer. If you have health insurance, please speak to your doctor about this screening. If you do not have insurance, call the Cancer Services program at (585) 786-8890 or 1-800-588-8670.
Cancer Services Program also has a program to cover the cost of treatment if you are diagnosed with breast, cervical, colorectal or prostate cancer and do not have insurance.
