LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The geyser in the pond at the Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park has turned into an ice volcano as ice builds up around the stream of boiling water.
According to news partner 13WHAM, the newly formed ice sculpture has drawn crowds from across the region, and even made an appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday.
“It’s massive compared to what I saw in pictures,” said Leon Damiani, who drove an hour and a half with his family just to see it. “Yeah, it’s worth the ride, it’s worth the ride just to see this in person.”
The ice sculpture towers over the heads of visitors nearby. It is unclear when the ice will melt, but this winter’s record low temperatures and windchills will likely keep it intact for the next few weeks.
