GENESEO — This past Saturday marked the final race of the 4th annual Geneseo Trio, comprised of 3 local charitable 5K and marathon races.
The Geneseo Trio winners are the male and female with the lowest combined times in all three Trio events: the Oak Tree 5K and marathon, Friday Knight 5K, and the Ramon Rocha 5K. In total, 51 runners and walkers finished the Trio and each Trio finisher received a commemorative engraved glass.
Connor Lucas, of Nunda, and Jennifer Apple, of Livonia, captured top honors this Saturday, as the series of road races concluded with the Ramon Rocha 5K Run/Walk.
A participant, Andrew Emborsky, finished with a personal best and describes his experience in the most recent 5K, “It was fantastic, except for the hill.”
Lucas scored an overall Trio time of 52:31; Apple’s time was 67:41. Lucas’ fourth place finish at the Ramon Rocha 5K, with a time of 17:50, was enough for him to maintain a 28 second edge in the Trio’s men’s division over Geneseo’s Ben Hogan, who finished the Trio with a time of 52:59. Apple was the fastest female at the Ramon Rocha 5K, with a time of 22:46, which extended a comfortable lead that she held among Trio women heading into the final event.
The 2012 Geneseo Trio was presented by GioVanna’s Pizza & Pasta. Proceeds from the series benefited the Genesee Valley Conservancy, Geneseo Central School Cross Country Team, SUNY Geneseo Cross Country, SUNY Geneseo Track & Field, and The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming Foundation.
