WEST SPARTA – A mysterious fire damaged the interior of a house on Presbyterian Road on Wednesday.
According to first responders at the scene, the house is unoccupied, vacant, foreclosed, and had no power running to it.

“I arived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the eaves and roof,” said West Sparta Fire Chief Thomas Pearson. “Our firefighters put a hole in the roof and have it under control. Right now we’re about to enter and determine a cause.”
The house was not well kept. Yellow jackets buzzed and crawled around the eaves and outside walls.
Pearson is investigating the cause of the fire with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
The West Sparta Fire Department responded to the scene alongside the Dansville Fire Department and Groveland Fire Department, and Dansville Ambulance.
