LIVINGSTON COUNTY – Focus on the Children, a county-wide charity with deep roots in Caledonia, is calling more than 80 crafters including sellers of goat soap, custom Christmas wreaths and nature photos to Geneseo.
About 85 artisans will bring their wares to the New York State Armory at 34 Avon Road in Geneseo on Nov. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All profits to go to Focus on the Children, who will then set the money to work for local kids in need.
“This is where we go to work, families that may have come upon hard times and may not be able to make ends meet, but don’t qualify for other services,” said member Sarah Peri.
Attending crafters bring a wide variety of skillfully-made items to the table.
Dick Thomas, the man behind the popular Dick Thomas Photographs of Nature Facebook page, will sell his photos. Wooly Acres from Nunda will bring their goat mild soap, goat milk lotion, goat mild fudge, and Christmas and fairy themed crafts. Shampain’s Baubles based in Caledonia will offer hand wire-wrapped jewelry. Luczak’s Tree Farm from Silver Springs will bring their beautiful greens, wreaths and holiday decor.
Due to popular demand, larger companies like Thirty One and Lularoe Leggings will also make an appearance.
Though he will wait to share his work until later, Santa Claus will make an appearance to meet local kids. Sarah Pieri Photography will give away free pictures with Santa from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Red Cross hosted this show for many years before and Focus on the Children took over last year. Focus on the Children serves hundreds of children per year with their backpack program in August and Christmas program in December.
Started in 1993 by local business man Bob Jones of Jones chemicals who knew there was a demographic of families with children slipping through the cracks where other agencies couldn’t be of service.
