PERTH, AUSTRALIA — A large object seen floating in rough seas in the southern Indian Ocean may not be wreckage from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which has been the subject of a massive search for weeks.
Possible wreckage from the missing jetliner was first spotted last week by three different satellites, but it was impossible to identify the objects from the low resolution images. The first photographs of the objects from search planes, however, show an object that analysts say looks more like Noah’s ark.
During a press conference yesterday a Malaysian government official said, “It’s about the right size. The dimensions of the object we saw on the satellite translate to roughly 300 cubits by 50 cubits, which are the original dimensions of the ark.”
There was no explanation of how the ark may have gotten to the southern Indian Ocean, or where it’s been since it originally disappeared around the year 2000 B.C.
