“The cat went to a reputable local vet and unfortunately had to be euthanized,” said Osganian. “The vet gave us a thorough statement on the cat’s many health problems and deficiencies, including being covered in ‘hundreds of fleas.'”
Osganian said that pet owners should be aware of potential legal consequences of not caring for their animals.
“Residents should please make sure that their animals at the very least are up to date on their shots and have basic needs met,” said Osganian. “These cases are very sad and do result in criminal charges for the owner.”
Lynk-Cooke is scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court at a later date.
