DANSVILLE — Bill Bacon was surprised at today’s County Industrial Development Agency meeting by the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce, who notified him that he would be the recipient of the George Traber Award, named for iconic Caledonia resident and philanthropist George Traber, who passed away in 2008.
Bacon, Vice President Commercial Lending for Five Star Bank in Dansville, was recognized for his endless community service and volunteerism. He is currently the campaign chair for United Way of Livingston County, and has served in the past as Chairman of Livingston County Chamber Board of Directors.
“I worked with George on many projects and have greatly respected him for his passion for the community,” said Bacon. “I’m astounded and floored by this award.”
George Traber served and inspired Livingston County through his volunteerism and his passion for the valley.
Bacon humbly told the room that he had nominated much more deserving recipients. He will be officially recognized at the Chamber’s annual meeting later this month.
