UPDATE: York’s Second Grass Fire in Two Days Strikes Horse Pasture
YORK – Fire swept through the dry grass in a farm field on Telephone Road late Thursday afternoon, burning a patch of the field and threatening a nearby house.
According to first responders on scene, the fire started at about 4:15 p.m. and quickly threw up smoke that obscured the entire property.
Firefighters said that strong winds blew the fire and smoke towards a house. Four fire departments converged on the scene to spray down the entire field and hunt down ‘hotspots’ of hidden embers.
The fire was well under control by 4:50 p.m.
Firefighters with York , Mumford, and Caledonia Fire Departments responded to the scene alongside York and Livingston County EMS ambulances and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
