GENESEO: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Livingston County Jail inmate on a Felony Assault charge.
The Sheriff’s Office Correctional Services Bureau members assigned to the Jail Division responded to a report of a fight between two inmates on March 2, 2020 at about 4:30 p.m. in the A pod housing unit. Responding Deputies secured both subjects and removed them from the area while providing medical care.
An investigation by the Jail Division members revealed that two inmates were engaged in a physical fight in which one inmate struck the other with a closed fist several times in the head.
The primary aggressor was identified as 24 year old, Emett M. Peters.
Jail Division Corporal Matthew Romanowski arrested Peters on the felony charge of Assault 2nd Degree.
Peters was processed by Deputies assigned to Central Booking at the Livingston County Jail. He was issued an appearance ticket on the charge to return to the Village of Geneseo Court at a later date.
Assisting in the investigation were Deputies Timothy Gemme and Douglas Martin both of the Jail Division.
