According to Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, the woman passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Dougherty said that the middle-aged woman was with a hunting party of five people when she sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen at about 4 p.m.
No charges are filed at this time but the Sheriff is not ruling out the possibility that there may be charges later. The Sheriffs Office utilized their unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to survey the scene.
Multiple sources independently corroborate that a woman was shot while a male was carrying a firearm with the safety off.
First Responders originally activated Mercy Flight but they did not transport a patient.
