According to a press release from NYS Police Troop E, on May 17 at approximately 8:15 a.m., the State Police in Wolcott responded to a 911 call of a farm accident at 5272 Brick Schoolhouse Road in the Town of Rose, and his wife had pulled him from under the 1840 Skid Steer before first responders arrived.
When Troopers arrived they discovered that William Lotz, 31, had been operating a Case Model 1840 Skid Steer to load a round bale of hay into a feeder rack when he exited the equipment and walked under the loader to remove the bale of hay when it suddenly dropped down and pinned him.
Lotz was extricated by his wife and life-saving measures were attempted by EMS, but were unsuccessful.
Unfortunately, Lotz was pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Coroner, Dr. David Hannan.
