Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on May 11, 2023, Investigators of the Steuben County Sheriff’s office arrested Renee L. Morris, age 43 of May Street in the Village of Bath.
It is alleged that from 04/01/2022 to 04/30/2023 Ms. Morris offered a false instrument for filing and falsified business records she provided to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and received benefits from the Steuben County Department of Social Services in the amount of $15,298.66 that she was not eligible to receive.
Ms. Morris is charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree and Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, both class E Felonies and one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D Felony. Ms. Morris was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office.
