GENESEO — A woman who drove to the County Jail to bail out her ex-husband, who had been previously charged with DWI, ended up getting herself in legal hot water when she showed up to the jail allegedly intoxicated as well.
According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Leigh Hasler, 30, from Rochester, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, having a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.18% or higher.
Allegedly Ms. Hasler drove to the jail to bail out her ex-husband, Erik Hasler, 30, who had earlier been charged with Driving While Intoxicated in the Town of Livonia. According to the press release Mr. Hasler refused to take a chemical test and was subsequently arraigned by the Town of Geneseo Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $500.00 Bail.
The release states that Corporal Jeff Hammond received a call from a female requesting information on how to bail someone out of the jail. Due to their conversation, Corporal Hammond suspected that the female was intoxicated. At approximately 5:55 a.m., Corporal Michael Malone observed a vehicle enter the Livingston County Jail Parking Lot. Corporal Malone saw that there was a white female driving the vehicle, and she appeared to stumble upon exiting the vehicle.
The apparently stumbling ex-wife was then arrested by Deputy Martin Herkimer in the Jail Parking Lot after he conducted a DWI investigation. Ms. Hasler was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, having a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.18% or higher.
“The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to warn everyone not to drink and drive. Please use a sober, designated driver.” stated Sheriff Dougherty in the press release.
