AVON – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hemlock woman for stealing over $33,000 from her employer.

According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Janelle Jones, 26, was arrested for felony Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.
The investigation began on Oct. 20 when the business contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report missing bank deposits.
The ensuing investigation alleges that Jones had stole numerous bank deposits from the business since July of 2017. It is alleged that the total amount of money that Jones stole was $33,325.
Deputy Martin Herkimer of the Road Patrol Division and Investigator Brad Schneider of the Criminal Investigations Division handled the investigation and arrested Jones on Nov. 16.
Jones was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Jones was later arraigned by Geneseo Town Justice Kathleen Houston, who ordered her held at the Livingston County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Jones will return to court to face the charges at a later date.
