UPDATE: NYSEG Equipment Failure Caused Livingston County Blackout
LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The lights are back on after about 1,400 customers were without power Monday afternoon.
According to New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG), 1,401 customers were without power in Dansville, North Dansville, Ossian, West Sparta, and Mount Morris.
In Dansville, several businesses including Tops and Rite Aid and the traffic signal at Commerce Drive and Rte. 36 lost power at about noon.
NYSEG reports that all customers’ electricity is now restored.
Dansville Police, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and NYS Police reported than no power lines were known to be down in the area.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office and NYS Police alerted drivers at the intersection of Rte. 36 and Commerce Drive while the traffic light was out.
