A one-vehicle rollover crash in the town of East Bloomfield resulted in a fatality on Wednesday, July 15. The crash occurred on Bailey Rd., near Weiland Rd.
The accident occurred as the vehicle, driven by Cody Laube, was northbound at a high rate of speed when it left the road, rolling over several times, hitting a tree. Fifty-one-year-old Russell Gernold, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, and died at the scene.
Laube, and his front seat passenger, Joshua Gernold, had to be extricated from the car. Laube was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital with broken bones and other non-threatening life injuries, while his passenger, 25-year-old Joshua Gernold was taken to Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigation into the accident by the Ontario County Sheriff is ongoing.
