DANSVILLE – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Rochester resident on multiple felony charges after her vehicle rolled off of I-390 southbound.
According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Donna Aton, 63, was arrested for felony Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, and several uniform traffic tickets.
On Oct. 20, Aton’s vehicle left the highway and overturned. Responding Deputies found what is believed to be drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Aton was transported to Noyes Hospital in the Dansville to be checked for injuries. Investigating police found that Aton’s driver’s license was suspended for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs in July 2016.
Deputies suspected that Aton was under the influence of drugs and requested a Drug Recognition Expert to the scene. Dansville Police Officer Jeffrey Faugh responded and performed a drug evaluation. Faugh alleges that Aton was under the influence of drugs.
Dansville Town Justice Josh Weidman arraigned Aton to the Livingston County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
The arrest and investigation were handled by Deputy Matthew Thomas of the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division with the assistance of Dansville Police Officer Catherine Mucha.
