WEST SPARTA – After a dump truck crashed through a guardrail on the side of Rte. 36 and fell into a creek, tearing the back of the truck from the front, the driver had to be driven up the side of the ditch in a ATV from Dansville Ambulance and taken from the scene in a Life Net helicopter.
The dump truck, from Morgan’s Waste based in Dansville, was carrying a load of garbage which spilled into the creek and made a call to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) necessary to survey possible contamination.
According to first responders on scene, the truck was clearly moving at a highly excessive rate of speed when it crossed Rte. 36.
Firefighters with West Sparta and Dansville fire departments responded to the scene, assisted by Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, multiple Deputies and members of the Sheriff’s Office, and an ambulance with Livingston County ALS, and the Life Net helicopter.
