LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Tom Dougherty will be the 50th elected Sheriff of Livingston County after defeating Jim Szczesniak by 648 votes with all districts reporting and 869 absentee ballots being counted.
Dougherty, who was running on the Republican line defeated Szczesniak who was running on the Conservative line by a vote total of 9,770 votes to 9,131 votes.
There are still approximately 200 absentee ballots that could arrive at the Livingston County Board of Elections.
Szczesnaik called Dougherty to concede the race.
Sheriff York has announced his retirement after serving for over 20 years.
