LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Investigator Tom Dougherty, who is running for Livingston County Sheriff, has announced whom if elected he would appoint as Undersheriff.
Investigator Dougherty announced that he will be campaigning with Sgt. Matt Bean as his running mate and his hopeful Undersheriff. Dougherty is currently facing Undersheriff Jim Szczesniak in a Republican Primary likely to be held this September.
“I am thrilled to have a great cop and trusted friend join me in our effort to take the Sheriff’s Department in a bold and positive new direction,” stated Dougherty in a press release. “Matt has over 15 years of police experience. He is highly respected by his peers and has a stellar record of leadership within the Sheriff’s Department. Matt will make an outstanding Undersheriff and I am happy to have him as a running mate.”
Bean’s career started with the Mt. Morris Police Department at the Police Academy at Genesee Community College in Batavia. He graduated as a certified police officer and began his career at the Sheriff’s Department in February of 1998. Starting as a part-time deputy, he worked his way up through the road patrol division where he became Sergeant.
“People like Tom only come around once in a lifetime. He is truly a great and caring person, but on top of that, he is one of the best police officers that I have ever worked with. He is extremely dedicated, motivated and when Tom puts his mind to doing something there is no stopping him. He is the type of person that people want to be involved with, and can get results,” Bean stated in a press release. “I am honored that Tom would choose me to be his Undersheriff and be the person to help him lead the Sheriff’s Department into the future. Together we have a lot of great, fresh and innovative ideas that will bring positive changes and results to the Sheriff’s Department and the people of Livingston County.”
