The Town of Livonia is holding a zoning board of appeals public hearing on Monday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Livonia Town Hall, concerning giving a variance so Dollar General can build a 9,100 sq. ft. building on the southwest corner of Rt. 20A, and 15A. Code only allows a building of about 4,000 sq. ft. in that zone, which is “mixed use — hamlet.” The area is currently fields and woods, abutting farmland, outside of the actual hamlet.
There is another Dollar General about a mile away, on Rt. 20A, next to West Shurfine, and that one is expected to stay, with the proposed Hemlock store a new business in the Town of Livonia. There is also a third Dollar General store being proposed for the Town of Livonia, in Lakeville, near the new Kwikfill being built across from Hook and Spoon Restaurant, but plans are incomplete. The popular store is also in Honeoye, Lima, and Springwater.
The same night, the board is also holding a public hearing for Cassandra VanBuskirk to open a photography studio in an accessory building at her home 3276 Poplar Hill Rd. She needs a conditional use permit because the building is in a residential area.
Both hearings are on the same night scheduled at the same time, and it is unknown which case will be heard first.
