AVON – The search for a missing elderly man continued Friday afternoon where local law enforcement, and Livingston County Sheriff’s Office dive teams, and multiple fire departments searched a stretch of the Genesee River.
According to Avon Police Chief Gary Benedict, search teams were thoroughly checking the area near the Rte. 20 bridge over the Genesee River at about 3 p.m.
The missing person, Donald W. Farrell, 70, was last seen on Sunday, Aug. 9 at approximately 8 a.m.
Farrell is 6 ft. tall and 175 lbs. with brown/gray hair. He was wearing a teal colored Columbia coat at the time of his disappearance.
Anyone who thinks they may have information that will help the search is encouraged to call 911 and ask for the Avon Police Department.
Dive teams with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Massasauga Search and Rescue Team participated in the search, assisted by members of the Avon Fire Department, Avon Police, Avon Ambulance, the York Fire Department, Geneseo Fire and Ambulance, and Livingston County Emergency Services.
