AVON – A portion of road near the Genesee and Spring Street intersection was washed out by flash flooding at about 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

Several residences in the vicinity are knee-deep in flowing water. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning until 7 p.m. Northern Livingston County and South Central Monroe County.
“At 4:43 p.m. EDT, trained weather spotters reported flash flooding in Avon,” says the Warning, issued at 4:50 p.m. Sunday. “Around three inches of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is occurring with several roads closed in Avon and vicinity areas. Flooding will continue even after the rainfall has ended.”
Traffic continues to be severely disrupted by flash flooding and road closures on Avon Geneseo Road, Pole Bridge Road, Genesee Street, Spring Street, River Street, and surrounding areas.
