Desperate Driver Scams Boss for Auto Equipment

GENESEO – A man who was apparently desperate for auto parts has been arrested for allegedly defrauding his own former boss at the Autozone on Lakeville road to get equipment.

According to Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, Justin Lane, 26,  was charged with Scheme to Defraud and Petit Larceny after he allegedly purchased equipment on his former boss’s business account without permission.

“He was a former employee of the victim at L and R Rigging here in Geneseo,” said Chief Osganian. “He put some merchandise on his former boss’s business account. The boss caught it, and the paper trail is clear.”

Chief Osganian added that although the alleged victim in this case was a business, the law does not distinguish between people and businesses as victims of Scheme to Defraud.

Lane is scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court to answer the charges.
